Trade fairs transport logistic and Sensor + Test in June 2019:
ASPION presents new generation of data loggers

More transparency for transport damage

Anyone wishing to have better cards in the event of disputes over transport damage can have their transports monitored by specialised data loggers. At the two trade fairs 'transport logistic' and 'Sensor+Test' in June, the Karlsruhe-based sensor manufacturer ASPION will present its G-Log system, which allows a differentiated view of the circumstances during transport. The system is used worldwide primarily by manufacturers of sensitive machines and equipment. The central element and this year's highlight is the new multifunctional data logger ASPION G-Log 2. It provides precise information on shocks, temperature and humidity during the often week-long multimodal transports and communicates wirelessly via NFC and BLE with software and smartphone apps.

"The new generation of our data logger logs events that normally remain hidden and thus provides reliable facts for possible disputes between shippers, transport companies and insurers", explains Martina Wöhr, Co-Managing Director of ASPION and adds: "Our customers report that the use of the data logger also leads to a more conscious handling of freight and thus to a reduction in damage incidents.

Safety in the event of impact and climatic conditions

The shipper determines the permissible threshold values for acceleration, temperature and humidity individually for his products. If they are exceeded on the way, the shock sensor records shocks in six directions with up to ± 24 g per axis, highest shocks even down to millisecond level, as well as temperature and humidity values and stores up to 950 events.

Each sensor has a unique ID. With the included PC software ASPION G-Log Manager, the user monitors, parameterizes and reads the sensors in circulation. Data is exchanged wirelessly via Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). A very useful feature is the possibility of reading out the sensor values at any location, also via app via smartphones, and sending them by e-mail to the control center. This provides clarity about incidents even before reaching the destination.

Shock details in milliseconds for traceability

The robust and affordable G-Log 2 data logger is durable and can be used again and again. The battery lasts up to 1 ½ years from activation and is easy to replace by the user. The sensors can be used for all types of transport, including air freight. "The special feature of our sensors is the shock logging with breakdown on millisecond level for the highest shocks, which show the exact course in case of damage. This depth of detail is unique in the double-digit price segment in which we operate," says the managing director.

The ASPION G-Log Manager prepares the sensor data in a user-friendly way. The reports contain all important facts for the shipper, carrier, customer and transport insurer. But the packaging designers also benefit from the records. The optional software ASPION G-Log Premium extends the scope of the shock sensors with cloud transmission, location information and network functionalities. Thus the sensor data are available to all users of a company network in the globalised goods traffic.

Many companies, such as the Bamberg-based Siemens subsidiary 'Trench Germany', no longer want to do without the transparency of their transports. This company monitors the transports of its sensitive high-voltage converters to the USA and Canada with the watertight version of the G-Log system. Trench dispatch manager Manuel Hollet: "The measured data from our laboratory as well as the price for the G-Log sensor from ASPION convinced us quite quickly".

ASPION will present its G-Log system at these two fairs in June 2019:

transport logistic, 4. – 7. Juni 2019 in München: Halle A3, Stand 229B
Sensor + Test 2019, 25. – 27. Juni 2019 in Nürnberg: Halle 5, Stand 313
